NWF Fundraising

Hi guys. There are a number of ways Alyssa's Army can help out with the Gulf Oil Spill situation. While it seems the well has been capped (for now?) the effects of this disaster will not go away any time soon.

We've sort of adopted the NWF as our partner cause for action. Keith Powell has taken up Alyssa's Real Man Challenge to try and raise $100,000, ( http://www.firstgiving.com/RealKeithPowell) but some of our Army has indicated that they don't necessarily have access to credit cards, etc.

There are other ways to help!

1. You can send a donation by mail. There's a form on the NWF site. Click here Now don't worry about what the form says about amounts, etc. Give what you can, any way you can.

2. You can also use Paypal if you have access to that. The PayPal address for the National Wildlife Federation is info@nwf.org Again, send what you can. www.paypal.com

There are an awful lot of us in Alyssa's Army. Let's make it more than just a Fan Club, ok?

A Daily Fix of The Boss Lady

If you need a daily fix of our favorite Lady, along with a couple of other greats, you can always surf around the dial and find episodes of "Charmed". In ‘Charmed,’ Phoebe (Alyssa Milano), Piper (Holly Marie Combs), and Paige Halliwell (Rose McGowan), discover they are part of an ancient prophecy. Together, they are the Power of Three

Weekday mornings at 8AM E on TNT Network, evenings at 6PM E on We TV, you can catch episodes of this great show.

You can watch episodes of "Charmed" online here

Check it out!

A Personal Note

A couple of Tweeps and I shared an inside joke or two regarding our dyslexia today. We know we don't mean anything by it since we are dyslexic, but naturally social media can allow anything to be taken out of context.

I jokingly refer to myself as a "cripple" (which I am) and get told that it's insensitive to use that term (although the humor is self-directed and I am technically the one I'm poking fun at) and again, it's all about context.

I received an email today reminding me that one of the best people on Earth is dyslexic (which I did not know)but anyone who knows me and knows how much I admire The BossLady knows that I meant no disrespect or insensitivity toward Alyssa, of all people. I had a lot of help overcoming my own situation with dyslexia which is relatively minor compared to some people, and I know that she did too.

I don't think very many people did see our tweets to each other. One of my dyslexia buddies here is a writer, and I do ok as a web designer and Finance professional. But if even one person did, and was offended, then it was poor judgment on our part, and for that I apologize.

And if anyone, likewise, was ever offended by my cripple remarks, I will gladly share my handicapped parking privileges with them! I lost my former job due to physical disability (not discrimination, but rather reality - I couldn't perform the most necessary of physical requirements) and I know that insensitive remarks can be hurtful, so I apologize for that too.

Hope this makes things right.

Loads of Fun

@Alyssa_Milano I have just donated $100,000 to the wildlife fundless than a minute ago via web

Some one impersonating the Old Spice guy on Twitter thought it would be funny to announce a donation to the NWF on behalf of Alyssa Milano.

If you don't think it was funny, I think we should make an effort to reach that $100,000 mark for the #NWF. Alyssa Milano has over 900,000 followers. Imagine if just 10% of us make a $10 donation.

Text "WILDLIFE" to 20222 to donate $10. I'm doing it now. Will you?

TweetTheme of the Week for 7/19/2010

I think we need to start something new for #AlyssasArmy. Our Leader works so hard to take action, spread awareness on so many topics, and actually do something each and every day; it's only fair that if we're part of the Team, we do something as well.

It's not just that you CAN make a difference....it's that everything you do makes a difference. ~@pcousteau #quoteless than a minute ago via Twittelator

This week, I think we ought to start off with the most obvious crisis: The Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico. I think we should try to send out at least one informational Tweet per day to do our part in keeping up Gulf Crisis Awareness!

Are you IN?
